Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
An important official said the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
